Though a deal to bring Yevhen Konoplyanka to Liverpool is still likely, negotiations for the Ukraine and Dnipro winger have dragged on longer than expected today and Liverpool may no longer be entirely certain of securing a move before the window shuts at 11PM GMT. Reports from the Liverpool Echo, BBC, and Mirror suggest confidence at Anfield isn't as high as it was yesterday, leaving at least some doubt as to whether Konoplyanka will be a Liverpool player tomorrow.
What is certain is that, at this stage, Liverpool are the only side realistically in the race for his signature. Tottenham appear to have never been in the running in the first place, and Liverpool are the only side negotiating with deadline day almost half way over, with Konoplyanka's agent confirming they are "doing everything possible to get the deal done." With no time left for a realistic hijacking attempt, the only question now is whether Liverpool, Dnipro, and the player can come to an agreement.
If they do, Konoplyanka's medical would at this stage take place in Ukraine, and fans hoping for the usual collection of pictures of a new Liverpool signing being prodded by doctor Zaf Iqbal and leaning against random objects around Melwood will be disappointed.
