"D-Day" for Liverpool's Willian Interest

After a week filled with mounting speculation, Liverpool are reported to have their interest in Brazilian winger Willian reach some sort of conclusion.

Liverpool's display in the forward areas on Saturday was plenty impressive, lacking only the final product, with Daniel Sturridge, Iago Aspas, and Philippe Coutinho linking up to provide an exciting and interchangeable attacking contingent. The understanding between the three flourished despite the lack of finishing, and if rumors that carried into the weekend are to be believed, Liverpool are set to add another dynamic forward to that mix, with Willian's Liverpool "D-Day" set.

We've been exposed to a number of reports that Brendan Rodgers and company are the frontrunners for the Brazilian's signature, and while a number of other clubs have apparently registered interest--Manchester United and Spurs among them--Liverpool are supposed to have some sort of conclusion in the very near future. Via Ben Smith's Twitter from the BBC:

During the transfer window that can either mean a whole lot or absolutely nothing; we know that Ben Smith is one of the more reliable journalists around, but there's little that can be considered absolute when we haven't heard much other than that Liverpool were interested, possibly lodged a bid, and someone on Twitter saw him in a club in Liverpool. Right.

If it pans out it would be a terrific boost on the heels of yesterday's win, adding a fair bit of momentum ahead of the trip to Aston Villa next weekend. Most have the deal in the neighborhood of £30m with wages around £100k per week, which is by far the most significant commitment Liverpool will have offered in years. Let's first hope that they're able to agree a deal with club, player, and whoever else is involved, and that if he does end up coming, he eventually proves to be worth every penny.
