Brendan Rodgers and his scouting committee are letting no grass grow beneath their feet this summer. Kolo Toure and Iago Aspas deals have been done and today a third player moves to Anfield before the window opens properly. Luis Alberto, with whom the club have had a flirtation for a number of weeks, this morning committed to a 'long term' deal.

The twenty year old joins from La Liga club, Sevilla and spent last season on-loan to Barcelona B, where he scored eleven goals and made seventeen assists in thirty eight appearances. The highly-rated youngster has represented Spain at Under 18, Under 19 and Under 21 levels already, which, given the remarkable footballing strength of that nation, is impressive in itself.

Liverpool's manager seemed pleased with his latest addition and spoke this morning of the new man's ability and mindset.

"He has the correct footballing profile and mentality to be a Liverpool player, said Rodgers. "I look forward to working with him to develop his talent and he joins a group of young, exciting players at our club."

For his part, the young Spaniard was quick to point out how absurdly pleased he was to be joining Liverpool Football Club -- he was unnervingly on-message.

"I feel very excited", insisted the new boy. "I've never felt so excited before but I'm very happy. I think I am the happiest man on Earth. I have come here to enjoy moments with the supporters -- and I know the supporters will help me to never walk alone. I hope that between us all we can make this club one of the greatest in the world, once again."

It only remains to offer Luis a hearty LFC Offside welcome and recross all extremities that he is as inspired a capture as Philippe Coutinho turned out to be. It is proving to be an exciting summer and with rumours that the club have agreed an eleven million pounds fee for Simon Mignolet, the fun ain't over yet, so hold on to your hats sports fans.
