Liverpool's second deal of the summer window seemed to be a straightforward affair a few weeks ago, with Iago Aspas set for a transfer to Merseyside once his season with Celta Vigo--which ended in dramatic fashion as the club staved off relegation--was over. But then his agents weren't his agents and the official representatives were not all that official (or something like that), and now, having completed his medical with the insatiable Dr. Zaf Iqbal at Melwood, he has returned to Spain without the deal officially official.
It doesn't look to be anything to panic about, hung up seemingly with a detail or two that likely doesn't have anything to do with whether or not the player will actually be able to complete the move. From Neil Jones at The Liverpool Echo a little bit ago:
Update on Iago Aspas. The player has returned to Spain. Told Radio Galego: "I am happy, but won't speak until (the move) is official."— Neil Jones (@neiljonesecho) June 12, 2013
Aspas brother (and agent) Jonathan, said: "There is not trouble. Just bureaucratic issues" #LFC— Neil Jones (@neiljonesecho) June 12, 2013
Those who have spent any time in a bureaucratic workplace or environment know that their "issues" typically are associated with trouble, but all indications here point to a deal being done and a couple areas of tidying needed. It hasn't been clear-cut once the interest was confirmed, though it looks like we'll finally be able to welcome Iago Aspas to Liverpool sometime in the very near future.
