Milan Announce Balotelli Departure

Liverpool's sudden, unexpected move for Mario Balotelli is already nearing completion, with AC Milan having now announced the player's departure.

Following news earlier today that AC Milan had accepted a £16M offer for 24-year-old striker Mario Balotelli and that the player was on his way to Liverpool to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical, the Italian club have now announced his departure.

Under a "Balotelli Leaves Milanello" banner, a brief statement on the club's English language website read, "Mario Balotelli drove out of Milanello at 13.30 after saying good-bye to his team-mates and the club's press staff."

Balotelli is reportedly on the verge of agreeing a £90k per week deal to complete his move to Anfield, and if things continue to advance at their current breakneck pace it's entirely possible he could be registered with the league by lunchtime tomorrow.

If he is, it would mean that Balotelli would be eligible to play on Monday against Manchester City. Even if he isn't, it appears this deal—one that two days ago nobody thought was even under consideration—is nearing completion.
