Earlier in the summer, Liverpool's attempts to include Iago Aspas as part of a deal to land Sevilla's Alberto Moreno ended in failure. Now, though, there are suggestions in the Spanish press that the striker could be headed there after all for a reported fee of around €4.5M—about half the fee Liverpool paid for him last summer.
It's not the end Aspas or the club would have envisioned last year when he arrived from Celta Vigo as La Liga's top chance creator at a club other than Real Madrid or Barcelona. Yet with few signs of interest elsewhere in Spain, Liverpool may have accepted they won't do much better than to recoup half of the 26-year-old striker's fee.
Aspas made 15 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool last season, scoring one goal in the FA Cup. There is no word if Sevilla's apparent interest in Aspas could lead to Liverpool rekindling their efforts to capture Moreno, the young left back Brendan Rodgers identified as his top defensive target earlier in the summer.
