Even with the departure of Luis Suarez, it was clear that Iago Aspas wasn't going to have a role to play at Liverpool anymore, and earlier this week it was confirmed that he'll be heading back to Spain. Ian Ayre reportedly finalized a loan deal for the striker at Sevilla, and terms are apparently included that require the move to become permanent after this season. All that was left was the medical and the official announcement, and today he's completed the former at his new club.
Aspas will be vying for minutes with Kevin Gameiro, who was linked with Liverpool last summer before signing for Sevilla, and former Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes, who first joined at age 10 and finally made his return in 2012. Sevilla's first scheduled friendly of the preseason is on July 25th, when they'll face Eintracht Braunschweig in Braunschweig, and hopefully he'll have a chance to feature as soon as possible.
Good luck, Iago. We'll always have last preseason.
