With Liverpool confirming the signing of Lazar Markovic today and Bayern Munich insisting Xherdan Shaqiri has a role to play in the German club's future, a move for the Swiss attacker has begun to look increasingly unlikely this week. Some may still hold out for the stout wide attacker, but it no longer seems the likeliest of potential deal.
A standout World Cup appears to have strengthened Bayern's desire to hold on to him, while for Liverpool the priority is now to add another player who can fill in at striker. If that player can also play on the wing then all the better, but following the departure of Luis Suarez, striker seems the one obvious hole in Liverpool's attack and midfield.
For Shaqiri, though, being a part of the future for Bayern Munich isn't good enough, and he dropped a less than subtle hint today suggesting he's still interested in a move.
I live in present... Not in future....;-)

The question though is whether Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool still see room for the £15M rated attacker, though with rumours that Roma are interested and a slew of other potential landing spots for the talented 22-year-old, if Shaqiri is set on a move he seems certain to end up somewhere new before the transfer window closes.
