With the official announcement of the signing of Lazar Markovic expected shortly, Benfica sent a letter out to press in Portugal today confirming they had sold their half of the rights to the Serbian attacker for €12.5M. With half of Markovic's rights held by a third party, Liverpool are awaiting the finalisation of that part of the deal before officially announcing his arrival.

As widely reported in recent weeks, Markovic will arrive at Anfield for a total fee of €25M, or just under £20M. The player is believed to have successfully completed his medical yesterday after arriving in Liverpool late on Sunday evening. He will become the club's fourth official signing of the summer following Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, and Emre Can.
With Serbia not involved in the World Cup, Markovic will join up with Liverpool immediately for pre-season once his transfer is officially completed and could make an appearance as soon as tomorrow's match against Brondby.
