Rumour Mongering: Griezmann Offered to Liverpool

France and Real Sociedad attacker Antoine Griezmann is expected to change clubs this summer, and Liverpool are rumoured to have been contacted to gauge their interest in pursuing him.

As yet it's not much more than a rumour on the fringes of tabloids like Metro and the Mirror. If it ends up having any weight to it, though, many Liverpool fans will see it as the marquee summer target they've been waiting for. In short, Antoine Griezmann is expected to change clubs this summer. And Liverpool, having been known admirers of the player in the past, have been contacted to gauge their interest.

Griezmann's agent has informed Sociedad he will not be extending his contract at the club, and it is rumoured they have begun to shop him around as a result. Sociedad are believed to be seeking a £25M payday for the 23-year-old French star who can play on either wing or behind the striker. Quick, athletic, creative, and hardworking, he's a player who would tick all the boxes for Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool side.

Arsenal were also contacted, but with the London club completing the signing of Alexis Sanchez, there is believed to be no interest in Griezmann at present. The most likely other destination is rumoured to be Paris Saint-Germain, who have cash to burn but are quite thoroughly overloaded at Griezmann's position while Liverpool might have room for one more flexible attacker even after Lazar Markovic arrives.

Though Barcelona and Real Madrid are believed to have been tracking the player's progress closely, it has been suggested Sociedad would prefer not to sell Griezmann within Spain if they can find an acceptable offer for him from abroad.
