Rumour Mongering: Rubin Kazan's Sardar Azmoun Linked With Liverpool

Liverpool might just be out of the running for the real Messi but could be the home of an Iranian one by the end of the summer transfer window.

Sardar Azmoun is an Iranian youngster plying his honest trade at Rubin Kazan who is coveted by a number of major European clubs because he has been uniquely compared to Lionel Messi. In fact, it was shocking to see him dubbed as the "Iranian Messi" because he likes to dribble and can score a few goals.

Azmoun's form and talent has been impressive enough to be called up for Carlos Queiroz's preliminary 30-man squad for the FIFA World Cup. Apparently, Liverpool are in a "fight" to sign the player but that may not be what any hopeful Liverpool supporter wants to hear. If the player is talented, we don't want to display any pugilistic skills in the transfer window because Liverpool is prone to suffering unnecessary cuts that only serve to limit our chances of success.Tottenham and Arsenal are the reputed opponents for the youngster but there are others.

"I have offers from three major clubs: Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus," Sardar Azmoun proudly declared last month. "I also had an offer from Barcelona, but due to their transfer ban the club is out of the picture at the moment. I'm very proud to have Arsenal looking at me but, as I said, right now I'm only focusing on the Russian league."

Liverpool could do with a talented young forward who could provide support to an effervescent front three or two depending on the formation even if meaningful minutes could be scarce for a season or two. He's a player who may have been unknown to Liverpool fans but at least his youtube videos will experience quite a few more views over the next couple of months.
