A few of the rumors surrounding Liverpool transfer activity this summer has focused on attacking, forward-thinking talent, with each of Adam Lallana, Xherdan Shaqiri, Yevhen Konoplyanka, and Barcelona's Three Underused, Unappreciated, and Probably Unlikely-to-Arrive Musketeers rumored to be targets. Some have suggested that Oussama Assaidi, who spent the past season on loan at Stoke City, might have a chance to provide depth in a squad that desperately needs it, but talk today has the Moroccan winger edging closer to a permanent deal away from Anfield.
For now it's mostly The Daily Mail, so appropriate skepticism at the ready, but it's a move many expect to happen after a season that saw him get regular--and occasionally impressive--minutes in the Premier League under Mark Hughes. On Monday the Stoke boss commented on their interest with some hesitancy, though as Noel mentioned, interest has largely appeared mutual in a move that would surely see him gain more playing time than he would on Merseyside.
There's the suggestion that it'll all be wrapped up within the next few days, which would give all involved a chance to have things settled prior to the World Cup. On the Liverpool side of things it's likely there will be a profit turned--Assaidi signed for just £2.4m back in the summer of 2012--and a chance to hopefully kick on with incoming business of their own the next few weeks.
As usual, best of luck to him in what hopefully turns out to be a successful career unless he's playing Liverpool. Or if Stoke supporters storm the pitch and eat him.
