The good news is that none of Liverpool's loanees lost to Newcastle this weekend. The bad news is that we're not getting the type of output or results we've seen in recent weeks, with a number left on the bench or out of the squad completely as their respective sides struggle. Feel free to blame their parent club for any and all struggles, everyone. It's probably contagious.
Joao Texeira got back into Brighton Hove & Albion's starting lineup and registered a lovely assist against Bournemouth, but Sami Hyypia's side slipped to defeat yet again. Teixeira played in Perez Adrian Coluga with a lovely through-ball for Brighton's first equalizer, and though they managed another equalizer on the hour after conceding again, they couldn't hold on against a Bournemouth side that's now in second place in the Championship. Action in the second tier for Jordon Ibe as well, though his was more abbreviated in Derby County's 2-1 loss at Brentford. Derby gave away the winner late in second-half injury time and now sit sixth, though they're only three points back of new leaders Watford.
In England's top flight there was a spot on the bench for Oussama Assaidi in Stoke City's 2-2 home draw against West Ham, while Sebastian Coates is again expected to miss out for Sunderland when they take on Crystal Palace tomorrow evening. Better news for Andre Wisdom, who was in the West Brom side as they prevailed over struggling Leicester City 1-0 on an Esteban Cambiasso own goal. Wisdom continues to be one of the more successful Liverpool loanees in terms of playing time, logging another ninety minutes here.
Out on the continent there was a chance for Divock Origi to decide Lille's match against St. Etienne, but the forward had his penalty kick saved by Stephane Ruffier in the 1-1 draw. Tiago Ilori appears to still be injured as he was left out of Bordeaux's squad for their 2-1 win over Toulouse. In Spain Luis Alberto was again left out of the Malaga squad for their 1-0 win over Real Sociedad, while Iago Aspas--who scored a hat-trick against Segunda Division side Sabadell in the Copa Del Rey--played close to half an hour in the 1-0 loss away to Athletic Bilbao.
