Iago Aspas Signing Confirmed by Liverpool

Rumors of a deal for Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas take another step forward, as Spanish journalist Guillem Balague sets a valuation and asserts that the signing will soon be settled.

Liverpool's statements throughout the spring about getting summer transfers settled early--particularly those on the way in--were encouraging to hear, but after the way last summer ended up, we could be forgiven for adopting a less talk, more action point of view. So with July 1 still over a month away, it's very encouraging to read increased amounts of reliable-seeming reports about Liverpool's action in the transfer market, first with Kolo Toure confirmed, and now with talk of a move for Iago Aspas soon to be completed. Throw in talks that are apparently advanced with defensive target Kyriakos Papadopoulos, and Liverpool's summer transfer window is well and truly on its way.

Guillem Balague tweeted a few times in quick succession earlier today, revealing a fee of €9m as well as news that the signing is all but done:

Important to note that Balague has usually been on-target when it comes to players in Spain, and he was one of the early sources to release news that a move for Philippe Coutinho was on firm footing.

**And as I'm writing, James Pearce from the Echo has received confirmation from the club:

So, things are happening, then.
