Rumours linking Suso to Wigan on a season-long loan deal added a touch of excitement to the final hours of the transfer window for Liverpool fans, but the rumours have since been shot down by the player himself.
"I'm making it clear that I'm not going on loan to Wigan," said Suso, taking to Twitter less than an hour after the rumours broke to put an end to them. "I'm really happy at Liverpool and will try my best to play here every game."
With the arrivals of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho along with Liverpool's recent departure from the FA Cup, the idea of Suso joining Roberto Martinez' side for the remainder of the season made a great deal of sense on the surface.
That Suso is remaining at Liverpool could come in handy should they make it past Zenit in the Europa League, where both of Brendan Rodgers' new signings are cup-tied and won't be available for selection. He will also be eligible to take part in the knockout stages of the NextGen Series.
Still, with Liverpool's sudden wealth of attacking options, one can't help but feel as though the additional playing time a loan spell could have offered would far outweigh a few minutes in the Europa League and involvement in a highly competitive youth tournament.
