European football at Anfield. Honestly, is there anything better?
It’s a special night for Liverpool fans as the Reds host the first group stage game in the Champions League vs Sevilla. Even without the tension between these two sides— having lost a heartbreaker in the Europa League Final to the La Liga side in 2016— this was still a huge occasion.
It got off to a rough start, however, when some poor defending early in the first half gave Sevilla the opening goal. But Liverpool weren’t giving up easily.
Sure enough, Liverpool only had to wait until the 21st minute to start making things right. Alberto Moreno worked his way into the box with some elegant passing before hitting a low cross toward the far post. But the ball was greeted at the near post by Roberto Firmino, who flicked his ankle to redirect it past the goalkeeper and into the net.
