Liverpool Football Club have scored their first goal of the 2017-18 season.
And it was a doozy.
After going down 1-0 against Watford in the opening minutes of the first half, Liverpool struggled to get anything going. They looked, at times, listless in midfield and lacking urgency up top.
But then it finally clicked. Just before the half-hour mark, Sadio Mané got the ball outside the box. Feeling pressure from Watford’s defensive line, Mané employed some trademark trickery— with some assistance from Alberto Moreno— before sliding into the box to set up his shot. The finish at the far post was just exquisite.
It’s as good a goal as any to get Liverpool’s 2017-18 campaign started off. They’d go on to concede another goal moments later, but let’s not think about that right now. Let’s just enjoy this moment.
