Sheesh, where as all this firepower last week?!
With Liverpool up 2-0 and cruising to a win, the team started to to throttle back a bit. They made two substitutions, clearly aimed at saving their strength for the Champions League tie on Wednesday. 2-0 seemed like a decent enough score.
But Gini Wijnaldum clearly wasn’t satisfied. After some spring-tense build-up play in and around the box, Wijnaldum got the ball from a layoff by Mohamed Salah. He angled himself into position before uncorking a smashmouth shot toward goal, punching the roof of the net and giving Liverpool a 3-0 lead.
See, this is the Liverpool I like. Let’s have more of this.
