We’re on a roll!
Minutes after Roberto Firmino opened the scoring for Liverpool in their Champions League game against Maribor, Philippe Coutinho finished off a nice spell of pressure with a second goal.
In the 13th minute, Liverpool, looking to press their advantage, swarmed Maribor’s box with James Milner holding possession and menacing the right-hand side. He sent in a cross, which a Maribor defender managed to head out.
But the clearance wasn’t good enough. Coutinho recovered it on the edge of the 18 and hit it on a half-volley. The shot looped over defenders and out of the goalkeeper’s reach, dropping gorgeously into the net.
See, this is nice. We should do this more often.
