Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has scored with the very last kick of the ball against Slovakia to give England a 1-0 win in their first 2018 World Cup qualifying match.
It was a struggle for The Three Lions to break apart the Slovakia defense for 90-plus minutes even with them down to 10 men after a Martin Skrtel red card.
In the 95th minute, Adam Lallana squeezed a shot in between the goalkeeper’s legs for a dramatic match-winning goal.
Here’s a look at it:
This was the first competitive match under new manager Sam Allardyce. This was also likely the most difficult fixture in group play for England on paper. Getting three points will be a huge boost for their qualification efforts.
It will also be a good audition for Lallana to score an important goal in the first match under a new manager. Perhaps it’ll lead to him getting more playing time in the future.
