The hectic summer of international football has come to a close with Portugal beating France in the Euro 2016 final last night. After the conclusion of every major international tournament, a Team of the Tournament is usually named. The best 11 players of the tournament by position are put into a team that means absolutely nothing, but is fun to talk about.

Liverpool's own cult hero, Joe Allen, was bestowed the honor of making the Best XI for Euro 2016 after Wales's remarkable run to the semifinals of the competition.

The Welsh Pirlo (TM) was the linchpin in the Wales midfield allowing the superstar Gareth Bale and the rest of their attackers to focus on the attacking end. Allen's terrific performances were a big reason for Wales's Cinderella run through the tournament bracket. It was their first ever international tournament and they exceeded all expectations.

Here's to hoping that the confidence gained from the Best XI award will carry over to the new Premier League season...
