Judging the play of goalkeepers can be a difficult thing. While others are constantly moving, jockeying for position and playing on or around the ball, they mostly stand back in their own penalty area and wait. And then wait some more. And then occasionally, if they're good at their job, they stop the ball.
Sample sizes are small, shot difficulty is hard to account for, and what footage does exist tends not to be very informative for helping to form an opinion of potential new signings. Still, if Liverpool are about to sign a brand new shiny goalkeeper from a club most won't have seen play very often, fans might as well at least get a handle on that new signing.
So. Loris Karius. FSV Mainz' starting goalkeeper. And these are his best saves and moments from the 2015-16 and 2014-15 seasons. At least according to somebody. Who hopefully watched a lot more of Mainz than most of the rest of us did.
