Lucas Leiva's hilarious shot attempt caps a Derby night full of emotions

LOLucas!

Lucas Leiva hasn't scored a goal for Liverpool since 2010. In last night's Merseyside Derby, there he was with a great chance to put a shot on net and break his drought. Late into stoppage time with their memorable victory firmly secured, the ball found its way to Lucas wide open outside of the box. The Liverpool faithful all shouted "shoot!" at him and that's exactly what he did.

Here's the resulting shot attempt:

A low dribbler that squibbled wide of goal, a testament to why he's not scored in over six years for the club. The reaction from Jurgen Klopp and the rest of the Liverpool coaching staff says it all.

A moment of true comedy and hilarity to cap off a night that began with anxiety. After Divock Origi and Mamadou Sakho gave the Reds a 2-0 lead just before halftime, Anfield was filled with jubilation. That soon turned to anger and then worry when Origi was on the receiving end of a terrible tackle by Ramiro Funes Mori and had to be taken off on a stretcher. Joy and glee began taking over when Liverpool fans started the 'Ole' chants as their team stroked the ball around the pitch at will over their bitter rivals.

The night ended with this bit of fun as Klopp and everyone else had a dig at Lucas for his humorous miss. The manager didn't seem to mind the night ending on that sort of note.

"We enjoyed the situation when Adam, Alberto, and Phil had a little bit of fun on the sideline and gave the ball to Lucas, who destroyed this wonderful moment," said Klopp.
