The hits just keep on coming for Liverpool players on international duty. After Philippe Coutinho scored one of his patented golazos last night for Brazil, Daniel Sturridge has put England ahead of their rivals Scotland in a World Cup qualifer.
While it wasn’t a wonderstrike from outside the box, it was a textbook diving header at the near-post:
It wasn’t a particularly well-worked goal by the Three Lions as it was a busted play around their attacking 18-yard box. However, Tottenham’s Kyle Walker picked up possession on the right flank and swung in a great cross for the Liverpool striker to do what he does best and put it in the net with a fantastic header.
Sturridge hasn’t exactly enjoyed the spoils of Liverpool’s brilliant start the season, mostly playing a reserve role, but he looks motivated to prove to Jurgen Klopp that he deserves to be the main goal scorer for the title contenders this season.
