Steven Gerrard is happy at his new club LA Galaxy, but the Liverpool legend admits that his transfer this summer came with a bit of sadness. In an interview with FIFA.com (see above) Stevie G. reflected back on some of his best memories with his beloved Reds.
"It's gonna be strange. It's gonna be emotional. I'd be lying if said I'm not sad underneath the excitement." Gerrard said in the video inteview.
The 35-year-old played 17 illustrious seasons at Anfield and was a part of many of the club's most famous moments. Gerrard, like every Liverpool supporter, holds the night in Istanbul in 2005 near and dear to his heart. Even going as far as to rank it a all-time best day.
"Still to this day the hairs on my neck stand up. It was the best night of my life. I think it's going to go down in history as probably the best Champions League final ever. As captain of the team, there was no prouder man on the planet that night."
That unbelievable comeback from three goals down to win the final is just one of many great moments Gerrard had at Liverpool. However, it's likely to live on for eternity as his defining moment at the club.
