Social media is a glorious invention. Basically anyone in the world can interact with anyone else if they so choose to. We're talking billions and billions of different possible interactions. Every once in a while, among those billions, there's bound to be a case of mistaken identity.
That's exactly what happened to Colorado Rockies (of Major League Baseball) Minor League player Brendan Rodgers on Sunday.
He just happens to share the exact same name as the recenty-sacked manager of Liverpool FC. When people of Twitter noticed that someone with the name Brendan Rodgers had a verified account, everyone assumed it was the LFC manager and began the barrage of tweets. These tweets prompted an angry, yet hilarious response from the Minor Leaguer:
IM NOT THE LIVER POOL MANAGER
— Brendan Rodgers (@Broddddd3) October 4, 2015
Of course as soon as he tweeted that, he received thousands of retweets and favorites along with these humorous responses:
Noted Soccer fan and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Brandon McCarthy had this subtle joke
@Broddddd3 @JimBoardman well not anymore you're not

This is why we love Twitter.
