Liverpool's England Contingent Set to Join Pre-Season Tour

England's early departure from the World Cup means many of Liverpool's stars will be back in training earlier than expected, with most confirmed to be taking part in the club's American pre-season tour.

The one silver lining of England's early ousting from the World Cup, at least for fans who will be making it to Liverpool's pre-season tour this summer, is that most of the club's internationals will be back in time to participate in it. Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, and new signings Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert will all report in on July 20th.

They will be joined by Kolo Toure and, unless a deal for his departure can be agreed before then, Pepe Reina. However, with Liverpool's opening tour date a mere three days later against Roma at Fenway Park, it's unlikely the World Cup contingent will be involved straight away. They are expected, though, to be ready in time for the club's second match of the tour, against Olympiacos in Chicago.

That match is followed by a trip to New York to face Manchester City at Yankee Stadium before heading to Charlotte to play AC Milan. Mamadou Sakho and Simon Mignolet are expected to return towards the end of the tour, with an outside chance they could make an appearance in Charlotte. Following the tour, Liverpool return to face Dortmund at Anfield on August 10th.

Pre-season for everybody else kicks off next Wednesday, the 16th of July, against Brondby. They then face Preston on Saturday, July 19th before departing for the pre-season tour.
