Reina Ready for Liverpool Stay, Probably Still Getting Sold

Despite being heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool, Pepe Reina insists that he's prepared to carry on with the club. Even though he and Brendan Rodgers aren't talking. Seems healthy.

There are very fond memories of Pepe Reina in a Liverpool, ones that are decidedly less so, and then there's whatever has happened in the last 12 months. Simon Mignolet was signed as competition for Reina, which the Spanish goalkeeper welcomed before getting loaned out to Napoli for the duration of the season. He penned a goodbye letter, as one does when they leave a club with which they've shared a mutual affection, which has since proven to be a little awkward since it was a loan deal, Brendan Rodgers hated it, and now Pepe's back in training after failing to find a permanent deal anywhere on Fowler's green Earth.

No matter for Pepe, though, as he's ready to stick around Liverpool, honoring his contract, being a good teammate, and generally everything needed other than that whole interaction with the person who's responsible for deciding whether or not you play thing:

"I have a contract to respect with Liverpool. I'm training well and I am perfectly fine with my team-mates. I am here to stay. I have not talked to Brendan Rodgers. I've been here for only four days and I am just thinking of training to my best and getting back into shape."

So it sounds like things are pretty, pretty, preeeeeeeeety good between Rodgers and Reina right now, with the boss confirming that "there has been no real conversation as yet. He is just working hard to get fit and we will see what happens over the next few weeks." Long story short, Liverpool are prepared to help Pepe Reina get during the preseason, preferably with as little interaction between player and manager as possible, and then sell him for whatever sort of fee they can manage.

Bonus points to Pepe if he features against Olympiacos and pulls a Richie Tenenbaum, though.
