The Reds conceded the only goal of the game at the end of the first half. Nikita Parris controlled a short corner and then turned with the ball at her feet and got it high and passed Liverpool goalkeeper Teagan Micah.
While the second half showed more promise, particularly with Mia Enderby nearly equalizing, the Reds couldn’t find a goal. In the end, Manchester United did just enough to gain the three points.
Right now, Liverpool are in fourth place out of five teams in Group B. Their last group stage game is against Everton on December 13th. Neither Merseyside club has a chance to advance to the quarter-finals, with all of the competition centered around Manchester City, Manchester United, and Leicester City in a tight race in the top three.
More promising is the Reds’ next home game on Sunday against Brighton and Hove Albion. Liverpool are currently doing very well in their second season back in the WSL. They’re sitting in a close sixth place after seven games.
