The Liverpool FC Women’s first season in the FA Women’s championship after getting relegated from the WSL didn’t go quite as expected, finishing third rather than earning the sole promotion spot. Despite not finishing where they hoped, the team managed to score 37 goals in 20 league games. For reference, the Liverpool women scored a paltry 8 goals in 14 games the previous season as they got relegated from the WSL.
With the elevated goal count, the club released a video of the top 10 goals of the season, which you can see below.
Unsurprisingly, the top spot went to an absolutely scintillating solo effort from Rinsola Babajide against Sheffield United. She received a simple throw in, beat half of the team to get into the box with some sharp footwork before smashing a left footed shot past the keeper.
There were a few interesting tidbits from the other top goals. Ceri Holland, signed in January, had 3 of the top 10 goals from her midfield role. Two of the top goals came from Liverpool’s center backs Niamh Fahey and Meikayla Moore. The aforementioned Babajide had 2 of the top 10 goals despite only playing half the season. And finally, none of the top 10 goals came from the central striker role.
