It’s always good when a Liverpool team win a game, so to have both first teams win with clean sheets is the sign of an excellent weekend. Liverpool Women cruised to a 3-0 victory over London Bees on Sunday, with a goal from Becky Jane in the first half and two late goals from Ceri Holland and Amy Rodgers to seal the Reds’ much needed three points.
“It was a great three points, we wanted the win and we dominated the game I think,” Holland said after the game. “We had some good spells of possession and created a lot of chances. That’s what we have been working on and it came out in the game today.
“They came out in the second half and credit to them, they put up a really good fight so it was a great time to get that second goal and give us a cushion. Then we just had to keep going at them.
“Mel [Lawley] picked up the ball on the half-way line, faced up and played a great ball through. I’ve just made the run in behind and luckily I’ve just managed to finish it at the end.
“As the saying goes ‘you’ve got all the time in the world’ so it was a great ball through and I’ve just got to put the ball in the net,” Holland added. “It’s been a good start in a Liverpool shirt and I’m really enjoying my time here and I think that’s showing in the way I’m playing.”
The Reds take on eighth place Crystal Palace next Sunday. Hopefully there’s another three points in store for the team then.
