Roberto Firmino put in a star turn against Swindon Town in Liverpool’s final pre-season tune up match, and even if he doesn’t start against Stoke, it looks like the Reds have another South American attacking star on their hands.
Jordon Ibe may not be called on to start every week, but the 19-year-old was one of Liverpool’s pre-season standouts and looks set for a great season as a supersub in the league and regular contributor in the cups.
Joe Gomez is all the talk of Reds fans who watched pre-season, and with good reason. The young defender stood out at both right and left back, and he looks set to enter the season as the club’s first option for both positions.
Joao Carlos Teixeira has had a tough road, and playing at one of the club’s deepest positions won’t help him get playing time. His ability and tenacity, though, should. With injuries always an issue, expect Teixeira to get a chance sooner or later—and to impress when he does.
And if that all isn’t enough, there’s always Christian Benteke’s first goal for the club to just set on loop and watch a few dozen times.
