Both James Pearce of the Athletic and the Liverpool Echo are reporting that Kaide Gordon could soon make his Liverpool FC debut next month in the cup games. The 16 year-old is reportedly on the cusp of a first-team role, and Xherdan Shaqiri’s departure to Lyon has paved the path for Gordon.
Since signing from Derby County at the start of the year, Kaiden Gordon’s reputation has been on the rise, with the kid quickly rising through Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s U18 team, with a haul of six goals in four appearances at the back end of the season, and ending the campaign by featuring for Barry Lewtas’ U23s away at Leicester City. He then started pre-season training with the first-team in Austria.
Hype pieces like this from Neil Jones of Goal.com paint a rosy picture, with teammates and staff alike praising the teenager. With Klopp always using the early League and FA Cup fixtures as a chance to rotate and give teenagers a chance, we can look forward to Gordon (and possibly others) making their senior debuts soon.
