Following news that the Scottish Premiership side led the race for him, Liverpool academy graduate Ben Woodburn is set to join Heart of Midlothian Football Club on an initial half-season loan after agreeing to the move.
According to The Edinburgh Evening News, there will be a chance for the deal to be converted to a full season loan should Woodburn’s first six months with Hearts go well, though the Scottish outlet do not update his Liverpool contract status.
As things stand, Woodburn is heading into the final year of his Liverpool contract, and if he were to depart on loan without signing a new one it would mean being able to depart the club on a free next summer.
Recently, Liverpool’s coaches have suggested that the 21-year-old—who has struggled with injuries previously, playing a role in disappointing loan spells with Sheffield, Oxford, and Blackpool—remains in the club’s long-term plans.
Woodburn first joined Liverpool at the U7 level and was one of the club’s top youngsters as he moved through the age ranks, while for Wales he became their second youngest ever international, debuted as a 17-year-old.
