The Premier League season has officially started and we’re nearly at the end of the summer transfer window. However, the window hasn’t slammed closed yet, so there’s still some hope that Liverpool may be bringing in a fresh face.
The latest midfielder to be linked with the Reds is AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni. The 21-year-old still has three years left on his contract, but according to Italian media, he’s available for as little as £25million in this window.
The French star scored three goals for Monaco in his break out season last year. His youth, talent and relatively low asking price, if that’s to be believed, put him right in the Liverpool transfer sweet spot.
The ECHO wrote an interesting piece looking at the player’s stats and comparing them to Gini Wijnaldum, who left for PSG at the beginning of the summer. It seems clear that he has plenty of raw potential and is still early enough in his development that Klopp could mold him into the kind of player he needs.
The manager has hinted that there may be other signings on the horizon, but he’s also made it clear that he’s happy with the team he has. Those two things combined means that it’s likely the only signings, if any, that Liverpool will make before the end of the month will be ones Klopp deems absolutely necessary for his team going forward.
