Rumour Mongering: Hearts Lead Race for Liverpool’s Ben Woodburn

With just a year left on his Liverpool contract, rumours of loan interest from sides like Hearts seem less than compelling.

With just two weeks to go before the summer transfer window slams shut, Ben Woodburn’s future remains uncertain, with just a year left to run on his Liverpool contract and a number of clubs said to be interested in the player on loan.

As of today, his most likely destination could be Hearts in Scotland, with Goal’s Neil Jones claiming the Premiership side are the current leaders for the player and the player believing he needs to leave the club to find regular playing time.

However, with Liverpool’s coaches recently suggesting he has a longer-term future at the club, a departure on loan could be dependant on Woodburn being convinced to sign a new deal. Otherwise, a loan serves little purpose for the Reds.

If Woodburn isn’t interested in a new deal, then a permanent deal would seem more in the Reds’ interest, but it’s hard to see Hearts having much of a transfer budget to spend—and the same goes for Woodburn’s other rumoured suitors.

Past reports have linked the player with clubs in Greece, Denmark, and Croatia, none of which one would think of as permanent destinations for a player who for some time was considered one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects.
