“Who will Liverpool sign to fill the hole left by Gini Wijnaldum’s departure?
Journalists all across Europe have been asking this question for months, and there seems to be no shortage of answers. However, if reports out of Belgium are to be believed, Liverpool has decided who they want and a deal will be done in short order.
According to Voetbal24, Liverpool is ready to pay Leicester City 75 million Euros for Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans. Leicester is said to be willing to work out a deal, and Tielemans is said to be very ready and willing to make the switch to Merseyside.
They also mention that Lille’s Renato Sanches was in the picture at one time, but Reds manager Jürgen Klopp prefers the Belgian to the Portuguese. Both players have been linked to Liverpool throughout the summer, but most links have made it clear no decision would be made until after the Euros. With the Euros now nearing their end, reports of deals on the verge of being completed are inevitable.
As for this particular rumour, it’s the first story that outlines the clear intent of Tielemans, Leicester, and Liverpool. However, that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Until journalists with close links to one of the clubs pick up on this story, it’s best to take this rumour with a pretty large grain of salt.
That’s not to say it won’t happen, but maybe hold off on getting Tielemans on the back of that slick new Nike away kit for the time being.
