There are names that Liverpool FC names know all the too well. Simao. Arda Turan. Even recent rumour Piotr Zielinski. These names are eternally linked to Liverpool FC. One such name is Lorenzo Insigne, who over the years, has often been rumoured to be making a move to Liverpool via dodgy rumours from Italy.
According to Italian journalist Fabio Santini, Liverpool are interested in signing the 46-cap Italy international, who is set to play in the final of the Euro 2020 this Sunday. Atlético Madrid are also rumoured to be hot on the heels of the 30 year-old.
According to Santini, the rumour stems from a disagreement Insigne has with Aurelio De Laurentiis over the terms of a new contract, with Insigne expecting €5m-a-year (£4.3m) to stay in Naples, while the owner is only willing to offer €3.5m-a-year (£3m).
Of course, Insigne has been a frequent tormentor of Liverpool in recent seasons, and Klopp has expressed admiration for the player in the past. He scored 19 goals and provided 11 assists last season, proving he’s both a goal scorer and creator.
Still, it’s a little hard to see a 30 year-old attacker in his prime making the switch just to be a rotational option. And with Napoli and De Laurentiis being notoriously tough transfer negotiators... any potential transfer seems really difficult. Of course, if it actually happens... and Liverpool get a world-class attacker on a cut-price fee, yay. Until then... not holding my hopes up.
