According to a report from the Athletic, there’s plenty of interest in Harvey Elliott. And why wouldn’t there be? Elliott’s first full season of senior football on loan at Blackburn Rovers was a smashing success. The teenager scored four, assisted 11, and showed he belonged with the Championship’s very best.

One club – Sheffield United were particularly interested in acquiring the services of Elliott. The Blades were relegated from the Premier League after Chris Wilder spent the season beefing about 5 substitutes. They finished 20th.

However, Liverpool FC has plans for Harvey this season. Elliott will be part of the senior squad this season, most likely deputising for Mo Salah on the right-wing, given that Xherdan Shaqiri looks likely to depart after he declared his wishes to leave this week. It’s a lot of faith being put into a teenager, but if Jürgen Norbert Klopp thinks he’s ready, then he’s ready.
