Mbappé Watch: The Rumours That Won’t Die

New, comments

At this point, Mbappé should join Liverpool just so we can stop talking about this.

Is it going to happen? Probably not. Does that mean we’re going to stop talking about it? Definitely not. Kylian Mbappé may have had a rougher Euro than anticipated, but he’s still one of the best footballers in the world and would still be a perfect addition to Liverpool. And if you don’t want to hear it from us, why not listen to former France International Emmanuel Petit?

“There are so few clubs in the world that can afford to pay his wages so it’s possible that if he did leave he would come to the Premier League,” Petit told Goal. “The best fit for him might be Liverpool.

“Kylian Mbappé has got a year left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and he still hasn’t signed a new deal. It appears he’s had some arguments with Leonardo, the sporting director of the club. But Mbappé has huge ambitions, he wants to reach so many targets in football.”

It’s all speculation here, but what isn’t at this point? And while Petit has made a compelling case about ‘wages’, I’ll add one key piece of information that may sway everyone still unconvinced that Mbappé’s next move should be to Liverpool: Klopp has offered him hugs.

Seriously speaking, it’s very, very, very unlikely to happen, but this rumour absolutely refuses to die and honestly, why not just embrace it at this point? Make your own joy, and if your joy is yelling ‘Mbappé to Liverpool’ until you’re blue in the face, well. Why not?
