Rumor Mongering: Yves Bissouma Is Not A Liverpool Transfer Target

According to Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are not interested in the Brighton midfielder.

The transfer window doesn’t even open until the beginning of July, but Liverpool have already squared away a major piece of their summer transfer puzzle with the signing of defender Ibrahima Konaté.

But the transfer rumor mill is never satisfied with any one signing, no matter how literally or metaphorically big.

So, Liverpool have other requirements, likely in the center of the park, which in turn brings us to Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma. Bissouma has been heavily linked to Liverpool over the last year, but according to the Italian Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are not so keen on splashing the money for him this summer.

“Talking about Liverpool,” Romano stated on his podcast Here We Go, “they are scouting him because they consider him an interesting player for the future, but there are no bids, no negotiations from Liverpool.

“At the moment he is not the main target, they are not working to sign Bissouma; scouting the player is one thing, signing the player is another thing.

“They are not working on signing Bissouma.”

This rumor could go either way. Romano is a frequent rumor monger, and always happy to pass along things he’s heard along the way. It does seem as if Liverpool’s interest in the player has cooled, but it also seems unlikely that Romano could have as much certainty about the club’s stance as he does.
