Philippe Coutinho’s life after Liverpool continues to go rather badly, as for the third summer in a row stories out of Spain cast a financially struggling Barcelona as wanting rid of the 29-year-old Brazilian who is their third top earner.
More than that, according to Sport, Coutinho’s dream would be to return to Liverpool. However, in one piece of good news for anyone tired of having the former Red linked with a return, Sport say Liverpool’s doors are closed to him.
That given Liverpool’s options, signing a player of Coutinho’s profile isn’t a priority and that the Brazilian playmaker does not fit into the plans—short-term or longer—for Jürgen Klopp and the Reds and so his dream will go unfulfilled.
Inter Milan are said to be interested in signing Coutinho permanently but the player would have to take a significant pay cut to get that move done. Meanwhile, Leicester City are said to also be interested, but only in a loan deal.
A third option for Coutinho, at least according to Sport, is to take a pay cut and remain at Barcelona to fight for his place—an uphill battle at this point but not out of the question as manager Ronald Koeman is said to rate him.
