Xherdan Shaqiri has had an excellent Euro so far, with a stand-out performance against the Swiss’s 3-1 win against Turkey where Shaqiri netted a brace. The Swiss will take on tournament favourites and future Liverpool player Mbappe’s France tomorrow, but in the meantime, several European teams have expressed their interest in signing Shaqiri this transfer season.
Liverpool will likely be looking for £13 million for the winger in an attempt to match what the club paid for him when he was signed from Stoke City in 2018. Per the Liverpool ECHO, Lazio in the Serie A have been long-time admirers of Shaqiri and are more than a little interested in the Swiss international. The Italian club have yet to make an official offer but as the ECHO understands it, the Reds will not stand in the way of a move should Shaqiri indicate a desire to leave.
It’s unclear if Shaqiri will continue to fight for his place at the club or look for a move in the hopes of more playing time.
“At the moment, I don’t really want to talk about it,” Shaqiri said when asked about his future at the club. “I have a contract [with Liverpool] and after the Euros, of course, I will talk to my agent. We will look at the situation and then we will decide how to proceed.”
It would make sense for Shaqiri to go in search of minutes given he’s only made 22 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool in the most recent season. Whether or not this is at Lazio or another club is yet to be seen.
