RB Salzburg striker Patson Daka has picked up the goalscoring mantle for his club this season after Erling Haaland moved to Borussia Dortmund last year. His 34 goals in all competitions has made him a sought after commodity in this transfer window, and it looks like the Austrian giants will be losing saying good bye to another star.
As Liverpool’s famously potent front three begin inching into their 30s, fresh talent will need to be brought in. It’s no surprise that Liverpool would be interested in the 22-year-old Zambian international who has so thoroughly impressed in the Austrian Bundesliga.
However, according to reports, Daka has rejected the Reds’ offer after talks with them. Instead, he has supposedly opted to play for their league rivals, Leicester City. The deal, which is said to be upwards of £23million, would guarantee Daka more consistent playing time, though no Champions League opportunities.
Since Jamie Vardy is already 34-years-old, manager Brendan Rodgers has convinced Daka that he will be the Leicester number nine’s heir apparent.
Liverpool have a recent history of doing business with RB Salzburg, which may give them an edge if they intend to fight to bring the player to Anfield next season.
