Gini Wijnaldum played nearly 5,000 minutes for Liverpool last season. That number is 1,500 minutes, or 17 full games, more than the next most played midfielder at the club.
Replacing those minutes now that he’s gone will be hard, especially with players like Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keïta, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain carrying significant injury question marks.
It’s no surprise, then, the Reds have been linked with a number of potential replacements already this summer, with one of the most intriguing Brighton 24-year-old Yves Bissouma.
However, the latest transfer chatter on the Bissouma front has Brighton having set the Malian international’s valuation at £50M—and according to The Express at least, that exceeds Liverpool’s valuation of the player by enough they’re walking away.
Given the talk surrounding Bissouma in recent weeks, that would seem to leave Arsenal as the player’s most likely destination should he move on this summer.
As for Liverpool, along with Bissouma they have regularly been linked with Leicester’s Youri Tielemans in recent weeks, though there have been some claims Jürgen Klopp would be content to move forward without a new midfield signing.
