Rumour Mongering: Leicester and Crystal Palace Interested in Naby Keïta

Few players in recent seasons have arrived at Liverpool with expectations as high as Naby Keïta, with the Reds agreeing a £50M deal with RB Leipzig and agreeing to let him remain in Germany four summers ago before welcoming him to Merseyside a year latter.

Few players can be said to have fallen as far short of expectations as Keïta, given just how much the club paid and how highly he was rated. Much of the reason for that can be put on his injury record, but part of a player’s value is in staying fit—and Keïta simply hasn’t.

The question, four years after the club signed him and three years after he arrived, is what comes next. And according to the man who had the inside scoop on Keïta to Liverpool, what’s next could be Leicester City or Crystal Palace, with both said to be interested.

According to Sega Diallo, the two Premier League sides have enquired as to Keïta’s availability, and Atletico Madrid would also be interested in him should the Reds prove amenable to a sale this summer—which, for the right price, one imagines they would be.

Given the uncertainty around finances for many clubs this summer, though, just what Liverpool’s right price would be or if any would be able to meet it is an open question, and it’s possible because of that Keïta will get one more season to impress at Anfield.
