According to Bundesliga/Bayern Munich-connected journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool FC are interested in the services of one Florian Neuhaus, who currently plys his trade as a midfielder for Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Speaking on his Bayern Insider podcast, Falk claimed that the midfielder was keen on a move to Anfield to play under the tutelage of Jürgen Klopp. Writing for Bild, Falk noted Liverpool’s long-standing interest in Neuhaus and also claimed that Bayern are unlikely to move for the player as they have already secured a big signing in Dayot Upamecano. Another separate report from Kicker claims the midfielder has a release clause of €40m, which should definitely pique the interest of the bargain-hunters at Liverpool.
One of the standout players in a Gladbach side, Neuhaus has a tally of seven goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga this season, a remarkable tally for a player who does most of his work in the deeper parts of midfielder. A technically-gifted player, there’s certainly shades of Gini Wijnaldum’s famed press-resistant abilities in his game, which would make him a seemingly-natural replacement candidate should the Dutchman leave the club this summer. His ball-progression (6.4 progressive passes, 6.8 progressive dribbles per 90), shot-creation (2.2 shot-creating actions per 90) and shooting proclivity (1.54 shots per game) could give a Liverpool attack that’s been over-reliant on its front three, a different dimension from midfield.
