The rumour mill has linked 24-year old Brazilian winger Raphinha with Liverpool’s scouting radar for a couple of months now. The most recent report suggested that Liverpool were eyeing the young star with a view to enhancing squad depth. Leeds signed him from French club Rennes last October for around £17 million.
But a recent interview indicates that he is well settled at Leeds United for the foreseeable future.
“I’m really happy to be here in Leeds being part of this institution, it’s a real pleasure,” said Raphinha.
“I’m really enjoying the city, despite not being able to see or discover that much of it. I’ve really been made welcome here, I’ve been embraced by all the players, the coaching staff, everybody here at the club and the fans as well.
“All I can say to my teammates, is just really thank them for the affection they’ve shown me. They’ve helped me adapt, develop and if I’m playing my best football now, it’s thanks to them.
“The way I have been embraced and the way I was treated on arrival here means that I’m really happy now. Today I’m really well settled in the city and the club I thank everybody for their affection that’s contributed to this.”
His star performances this season have allegedly caught the attention of clubs like Manchester United as well. And while he could develop further with Jurgen Klopp’s tactical guidance, for the time being he seems to be staying put with Marcela Bielsa.
