The rumours of Liverpool FC potentially agreeing on an early deal for RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate are especially welcome after the injury-riddled season we’ve had. However... RB Leipzig sounds like they have different plans, at least on the public front right now. RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krosche spoke about Ibrahima Konate to DAZN, and this is what he had to say:
I think that’s not an issue for Ibo. He still has a long-term contract with us. I think he knows exactly what he has got us in. And we know what we have in him.
This year he is on the right track again. He is an extremely important player who has a lot of potential and we want to help him develop.
It makes sense that RB Leipzig will want to maintain this stance in public, although there’s not much they can do if Liverpool just decides to pay that reported release clause. The two clubs have done plenty of business in the past, and we sure hope it doesn’t become a year-long back-and-forth between the two clubs like it did with the transfer of Naby Keita.
