Following on yesterday’s news that Manchester City has joined the fray of interested suitors to sign Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria - BILD is now reporting that the German club could be forced to lower their asking price for the midfielder to just €20m.
Zakaria suffered a long-term knee injury in March last year. The injury kept him on the sidelines for slightly over half a year and since returning, he has at times displayed a lack of consistency in his performances. Coupled with his contract situation (expiring in 2022), and COVID-19... Gladbach may just be forced to take a lower fee than they would prefer to.
Liverpool FC’s long-term admiration of the player is one of those open secrets in football. If they’re confident in dealing with his injury history, the cards are certainly lining up for Edwards and company to steal a player again, while simultaneously addressing a big need in midfield.
